A beautiful white smile never goes out of style. Unfortunately, many people suffer from cosmetic issues such as discolored teeth, cracks and chips, small gaps, minor crookedness, and other unsightly imperfections. Thanks to porcelain veneers, though, you can experience the confidence and beauty that come with a flawless smile. If you would like to see your grin go from so-so to so-amazing, please give us a call!
WHAT ARE PORCELAIN VENEERS?
As their name implies, porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that your Bucktown dentist permanently attaches to the fronts of your teeth, thereby hiding everything you don’t like about your smile.
When you come in for your consultation, we’ll walk you through the journey ahead of you and discuss any concerns you might have. Once you commit to porcelain veneers, it usually takes at least a couple of visits for us to install them. On the first visit, we’ll have to prepare your teeth and make an impression of them. That impress goes off to a laboratory, which takes great care to craft your custom veneers. Once the veneers are ready, you’ll come back so we can place them on your teeth.
WHO IS A CANDIDATE FOR PORCELAIN VENEERS?
Here are a few qualifiers that may make you a great candidate for this cosmetic dentistry treatment:
- You have one or multiple teeth at the front of your mouth whose appearance you are unhappy with.
- You are free of gum disease and other oral health issues (we want to make sure your smile makeover has all the support it needs).
- You understand the financial obligation that comes with porcelain veneers. Insurance typically doesn’t cover this treatment, so you’ll need to work it into your budget or talk to us about a payment plan. Depending on how many veneers you get, the cost of your new look could amount to several thousand dollars.
HOW CAN YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR VENEERS?
Veneers are a worthwhile investment for your appearance that can last for 10 to 15 years, but you’ll have to take good care of them if you want to get the most out of them. Although veneers are stain-resistant because they’re less porous than normal teeth, they can become discolored over time, so you may have to limit how much coffee, wine, and other dark foods and beverage you consume. You’ll also have to brush with a low-abrasive toothpaste to avoid scratching the veneers. Keep in mind as well that veneers may break if you bite down on hard objects, like ice or hard candy.
